Smithills School Senior Band under the baton of MD Chris Wormald has been busy recording their latest CD release.

The new recording was undertaken with the help of the highly respected producer Richard Scott (above with Chris), who first recorded the band back in 1999 and has worked with them on all their subsequent releases.

20 new arrangements

The band recorded twenty new arrangements by their MD, ranging from ‘The Phantom of the Opera’ and ‘42nd Street’ to ‘Mary Poppins’ and Gary Barlow’s ‘Sing’ from the 2012 Commonwealth celebrations.

Brand new euphonium solos arranged by the band’s principal euphonium player Jacob Smith ranged from ‘May Each Day’ and ‘Caruso’ to ‘Theme from The Godfather.’

American tour

This latest CD is due to go on sale in early July, just prior to the band flying out to America for its fifth USA concert tour.
