Euphonium player Mark Glover has been busy recently promoting and exploring new solo opportunities in Singapore.
Hot bed
His euphonium led concert held at The Salvation Army Headquarters in Bishan, also served as a platform to feature many local players as well as help raise the profile of the instrument in a country that is fast becoming a hot bed of euphonium playing talent.
The concert also raised money for the Salvation Army Charity through audience donations.
Featured guest
Mark was also a featured guest soloist in what he described as ‘the biggest performance of his life’ at the prestigious Esplanade Concert Hall (Singapore's equivalent to Symphony Hall in Birmingham) where he performed Philip Sparke's ‘Euphonium Concerto No.1’ with the Catholic High School Symphonic Band, under the direction of Adrian Chiang (above with Mark).
Biggest performance
Mark told 4BR: "It was the biggest performance of my life, and I was so impressed by the musicianship and hard work from the young band members, and was extremely grateful for the opportunity to perform with them."

Euphoric sound
Following the performance Adrian Chiang added: "It will forever be a treat to have Mark as a soloist! Bravo on a magnificent performance. It made me fall in love with the euphoric sound of the euphonium all over again!"
Mark is now looking forwards to a performance at the Singapore Trombone Festival in August along with working on a number of other exciting projects.
