Smithills School Senior Band under the direction of MD Chris Wormald has boosted its fund raising campaign towards its forthcoming trip to the USA by a further £3,000, with a further identical amount going towards the invaluable work of Help for Heroes and Bolton Hospice.
St George
The concert at Bolton’s Victoria Hall had a ‘St George’ theme, and featured music from Howard Goodall and Edward Elgar to Kenneth Alford, Genesis, William Rimmer and Parry.
Soloist
The featured soloist was principal euphonium player Jacob Smith.
Jacob, who is also a member of the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain, had to dash from the Winter Gardens in Blackpool to take part in the celebratory event, after playing with the Longridge Band in the Senior Trophy.
