4BR has been notified of the death of Syd King, a respected member of the Halle Orchestra trumpet section for 36 years, who died peacefully on Saturday 19th March aged 96.
Career
Syd started his musical career in Lancashire Fusiliers before taking the hot seat in the trumpet section at the Halle Orchestra.
Brass band dep
His son Matthew was introduced to brass bands through his father who enjoyed depping on soprano when he could for the local Gorton Silver at the odd concert and even contest.
The world of music will miss him.
