The Shepherd Group Band can perhaps lay claim to having the highest ever band stand banner in the world after a friend of the North East band took it on an expedition to Mount Everest.
17,000 feet
The banner made the trip from its usual home attached to a stand in York to the foothills of the world’s highest mountain, via Katmandu, before monsoon conditions stopped it from reaching one of the famous Everest base camps which stand around 17,000 feet above sea level.
One to beat
Band spokesperson Pete Scott told 4BR: "The picture shows the stand banner in the Himalayas with Everest in the background, so that’s the level anyone else now has to beat.
It was a great idea to undertake as we also raised funds for the Children’s Adventure Farm Trust along the way."

Challenge
The band has now put out the challenge to see if anyone can better their altitude record.
