Geneva Instruments cornet artist James Fountain will be appearing as guest soloist at Egham Band’s forthcoming celebration concert for Band President Michael Worthington’s 80th birthday.
Michael joined Egham on bass trombone while playing with the Life Guards, and when his service career ended in 1969 he became a full member and was appointed MD in 1970.
All aspects
A spokesperson told 4BR: "He took a lead in developing all aspects of the playing standard of the senior and junior band as well as expanding the scope of their activities, including many visits to and from our twin town Bensberg.
He led the band for the opening of the new band hall by the Queen Mother in 1975, and when he retired in 1991 having been MD for 20 years, he was appointed the Band Life President."

The concert is being held at the United Church, Egham High Street on 12th April and starts at 7:30pm.
