Fairey’s recent Regional victory moves the North West band up to seventh in the latest release of the rankings.

The World of Brass – 4barsrest.com Rankings have enjoyed their annual shake-up following the recent Regional Championships, which although witnessing very little by way of ‘shock’ results still managed see a few emerging forces make a breakthrough in a number of areas.

Among the most significant movers were Burry Port Town (up 12), Aldbourne (12), Tylorstown (15), Co-operative Funeralcare North West (68), Friary Guildford (13) and Dalmellington (54) following their encouraging performances at their respective ‘Area’ contests.

Other contests held since the last update are:

Welsh Open — won by Tongwynlais Temperance;
NEMBBA Contest — won by Strata Brass;
Oxfordshire BBA — won by Aldbourne.

April’s Spring Festival in Blackpool is sure to cause another plethora of changes below the top ten bands, and the next update will follow the European Championships in Perth, where the top 20 will be represented by Cory, Black Dyke, Eikanger-Bjørsvik, Tongwynlais Temperance, Whitburn and Brass Band Schoonhoven.
