The National Association of Brass Band Conductors will be holding their 2014 Convention in Gloucester this weekend as they look to build on the revitalised activity and work led by Chairman Andrew White and his team in the past year.
Time and place
The Convention will take place on Saturday 29th & Sunday 30th at The Holiday Inn, Crest Way Barnwood, Gloucester, GL4 3RX, where there will be a full programme of events to go with the annual general meeting.
Welcome
Andrew told 4BR: "As ever, we welcome all existing and new members. We also welcome brass and percussion instrumentalists who may wish to enjoy a variety of music making with new friends, colleagues and brass band enthusiasts."
Talks, seminars and workshops
Talks this year will be given by composer Gavin Higgins on the art of composition, Dr John Hall on psychological considerations in awareness and performance and Iwan Fox on improving media communications.
An open rehearsal will be given by the City of Cardiff (Melingriffith) Band led by Gareth Ritter with Russell Gray giving an analysis on the Senior Trophy set work, ‘Les Franc Juges’, whilst the brilliant James Shepherd Versatile Brass will provide the formal Saturday evening concert.
