The Haydock Band could well be playing before one of the biggest worldwide audiences ever on Saturday 5th April.
Fanfare
The band has been asked to provide musical entertainment to over 70,000 race goers at this year’s Grand National Festival at Aintree racecourse in Liverpool, and will also provide the fanfare to signal the start of the race which will be beamed to millions of viewers live on Channel 4.
Brilliant opportunity
Musical Director, Mark Quinn told 4BR: "This is a huge honour for the band and a brilliant opportunity to showcase what brass bands can offer world famous events such as the Grand National.
It’s fantastic that we get the chance to show what we can do, not just to 70,000 race goers but to millions via the live TV slot."

Busy time
In fact it’s been a busy time for the band as Chairman Godfrey Irving added: "We will be part of the Brassed Off’ touring production and will be recording our first CD as well as a charity single — so it’s great news all round for the band."
