There was a heart warming story of triumph over adversity at the recent Midlands Regional Contest in Bedworth.
Acute
Just before the contest, Stourport-on-Severn’s first horn player was struck by acute appendicitis, but undeterred MD, Oliver Wilson managed to completely rewrite the parts for others to play — with even the hard pressed second baritone player having to add extra bits and pieces in for the contesting cause!

Stricken
A spokesperson told 4BR: "Everyone affected rose to the challenge and as a result we were delighted with our third place finish.
Our stricken horn player had mixed feeling having to miss the qualification success, but has guaranteed that as he has only the one appendix that had to be removed, that it won’t happen again!"
