Historic double for Tullis

There was a historic double triumph for the Tullis Russell Mills organisation to celebrate at the recent Scottish Championship.

As reported on 4BR, the Tullis Russell Band organisation recorded a historic ‘double’ at the recent Scottish Championships in Perth

Titles

The senior Tullis Russell Mills Band conducted by Paul Drury and the Tullis Russell Mills Intermediate Band directed by Steven Craig (above) claimed the Second and Third Section Scottish titles respectively — the first time such an achievement has occurred in the long history of the event.

Euro invite

In addition to both now heading to Cheltenham in September to compete at the National Finals, it was also confirmed that the senior Tullis Band will now be invited to represent Scotland in the B Section of the forthcoming European Brass Band Championships in Perth in May.

Not surprisingly, everyone associated with the Tullis bands was in celebratory mood last weekend, although planning has already begun on how to get both ensembles to the finals.

Massive planning

A spokesperson told 4BR: "This will be massive logistical project and one that will require a great deal of planning and fund raising — although we don’t mind that at all in the circumstances.
