Lincolnshire poachers bag second and fourth

Foss Dyke and Resdev Market Rasen enjoy fine returns at the recent Midlands Regional Championship in Bedworth.

Foss Dyke

Two Lincolnshire based bands were certainly celebrating after their results at the Midlands Regional Championships held in Bedworth on the weekend.

Foss Dyke and Resdev Market Rasen competed in the Third Section, coming second and fourth respectively, with Foss Dyke under MD Gareth Westwood qualifying to represent the region at the National Finals in Cheltenham in September.

Hard work

Gareth (above) told 4BR: "Since I took over the baton last year, the players and committee have worked incredibly hard in getting the band back on its feet.

I’m immensely proud of them and this success has come from steadfast commitment along with hard work. I’m also delighted for our Lincolnshire neighbours Resdev Market Rasen in securing a very commendable fourth place."

Ambition surpassed

Resdev Market Rasen gained that result following promotion from the Fourth Section last year.

MD David Dernley added: "Having only just been promoted it was our hope to finish high enough to secure our standing in the section. To finish fourth therefore surpassed that ambition and we are thrilled with the result.

The band worked extremely hard and the excellent performance was certainly worthy of the result."

I’m immensely proud of them and this success has come from steadfast commitment along with hard workFoss Dyke MD, Gareth Westwood

Congratulations

He added: "Our hearty congratulations are extended to our friends at Foss Dyke and we wish them every success for their trip to Cheltenham in September."
