Time is fast running out for budding young brass band composers to submit their entries for the annual Nock Deighton Challenge.
Open
The Young Composers competition is open to all musicians under the age of 21 to submit works in any genre or style, provided they are fully scored for brass band.
Entry is free and all entrants who meet the criteria will receive a token £10 prize. Two runners-up will each receive prizes of £50 and the winner will receive £100.
Entries need to be received by the Ironbridge Brass Band Festival committee before 1stt April.
Worldwide field
This year’s competition has attracted enquiries from across the UK, and as far afield as Poland and the USA.
Competition entries should ideally be between 2½ and 4 minutes long and submitted either as hard copy or in electronic format.
Performance
Last year’s winning piece by 17 year old Harry Sargeant was played at the Festival by the Jaguar Land Rover Band.
