Runners & Riders ready for Torquay

77 bands will take to the starting line up in Torquay in the battle for qualification places for Cheltenham and London.

The West of England Regional Council has announced the list of 77 bands that will compete at the Riviera Centre in Torquay on the weekend of the 8th & 9th March.

Look forward

Secretary to the Council, Sue Oldfield told 4BR: "We have a most satisfactory entry. The Council, as always, look forward to a competitive but friendly and enjoyable weekend of fine music.

Leading up to Torquay, we have refreshed our website and also joined Facebook in order to better reach out to the hundreds of people who show an interest in our fine bands at this time of year."

Doors open

The doors open each day at 9.45am for a prompt 10.00am start, with wristbands available on the day costing £9 for 1-day or £14 for 2-days with concessions available.

Chinnor Silver

November 25 • You need to be quick, we are almost full but just require Eb bass and percussion. We are a friendly, welcoming and ambitious band and start 2025 at the top of our second section ranking table. We rehearse on a Wed evening in our own bandroom in Chinnor.


Hathersage Band

November 25 • Hathersage Brass Band is a thriving community band. We enjoy making music and have a good gig schedule. An opportunity has arisen for the right person to join our Principal Cornet Ed as co-principal. Are you up for the challenge? This is our only vacancy.


Wakefield Metropolitan Brass Band

November 23 • Bb Cornet, Euphonium, Eb Bass and Percussion required to complete the line-up.. Under the Direction of Duncan Beckley, the band is keen to fill these few remaining seats.
