Manchester Metropolitan University’s Crewe Campus will host a bit of a musical first for brass band lovers on Saturday 1st March.
Five works
Five bands will be showcased performing the Area Championship set works ahead of their appearances at the North West Regional Championship in Blackpool.
All five will also benefit from a written critique by experienced adjudicator and conductor Duncan Beckley with his feedback aimed at helping the bands in their final week of preparation prior to the contest on Sunday 9th March.

The event is hosted by Manchester Metropolitan University as part of their Community Partnership with the Co-operative Funeralcare Band North West, and admission is free!
There is ample free parking on the campus, and a licensed bar will be open from 6.30pm. No pre-booking is necessary and it all kicks off at 7.00pm.

Performers
The Co-operative Funeralcare Band North West, will perform ‘St Magnus’ under MD Jef Sparkes, with Simon Stonehouse leading Roberts Bakery Band on the First Section work, ‘Cry of the Mountain’.
Les Webb and Marple will play the Second Section work, ‘Chaucer’s Tunes’, with City of Chester playing ‘Partita for Band (Postcards from Home) under Malcolm Peach.
Rode Hall, will play the Fourth Section work, ‘Three Spanish Impressions’ under the baton of MD, Nigel Butler.
