Cory and Grimethorpe 25th anniversary in Ipswich

European Champions Cory and Grimethorpe Colliery Band will help the Ipswich Charity Concert Committee celebrate its 25th anniversary this year.

The Ipswich Charity Concert Committee has announced details of its concerts for 2014, which will also be the 25th year of its fund raising events.

The Cory Band will appear at the Ipswich Corn Exchange on Saturday 5th April with Grimethorpe Colliery Band at the same venue on Saturday 7th June.

25th year

Committee Secretary, Tim Mutum told 4BR: "This year is our 25th year and we are delighted to be welcoming these two very fine bands to Ipswich again.

Grimethorpe Colliery gave our first concert way back in 1990, so it is entirely appropriate that they return.

We are also very grateful to Colourplan Print for agreeing to sponsor both concerts and for the continued support of Ipswich Borough Council."

Help

Beneficiaries from the concerts will be the Level Two Youth Project, Felixstowe, the Dame Vera Lynn Trust for Children with Cerebral Palsy, Headway Ipswich and East Suffolk and the Ipswich Disabled Advice Bureau.

Last year’s concerts, featuring Black Dyke and the Fairey raised £3,000. Since 1990 the Ipswich Charity Concert Committee has presented 50 concerts and raised nearly £76,000 for charity.

This year is our 25th year and we are delighted to be welcoming these two very fine bands to Ipswich againTim Mutum
