Cubbington Silver Band has announced the departure of Alexander Webb as Musical Director after three and a half years at the helm.

Right time

A spokesperson told 4BR: "After claiming several contesting successes, after a period of rebuilding Alexander felt it was the right time to leave the band to focus on his professional conducting career.

Interim help

Whilst the search starts for a new MD, the band has announced that during the interim period, Gary Smallwood has kindly agreed to conduct them.

The spokesperson added: "Gary has enjoyed a number of successes with the band, leading us to victory at the Midlands Area Championships in 2009 and to third place in the National Finals that year."
