Northumberland contest return

After a lengthy absence there will be a welcome return of the Wansbeck Entertainment Contest.

4BR has been informed that after a lengthy break the Northumberland Brass Band Association is currently planning the return of the popular Wansbeck Entertainment Contest.

That event ran for many years after replacing the Northumberland Brass Band League contest, but due to local government re-organisation and budget restraints, it was last staged in 2004.

New contest

The new contest will now be staged at Newbiggin Sports & Community Centre on Sunday 19th October. Bands will be invited to play 20 minute entertainments programme of their choice.

We hope that the contest will flourish once again and we look forward to the sound of brass in a great and welcoming venueTeresa Campbell of the NBBA

Flourish again

Teresa Campbell of the NBBA told 4BR: "We hope that the contest will flourish once again and we look forward to the sound of brass in a great and welcoming venue. The facilities are excellent for this type of event."

She added: "Full details of the event will be made available soon to all interested bands of all sections, but as with many of these types of events, places will be limited."
