Staines make a quintet of high profile signings

Staines Brass has announced the signing of a quintet of new players to strengthen the ranks leading up to the forthcoming Yeovil Entertainment contest and London & Southern Counties Area Championship in Stevenage.

Signings

Michael Altree comes in on euphonium with Will Moreley joining on soprano. Jonathan Gawn takes on the Eb tuba role with Ed Carpenter and Frank Renton no less, on cornet.

A spokesperson told 4BR: "Michael has played with us in the past and is a welcome addition for the Yeovil contest, whilst Will has signed from Hawk Green (Marple) after moving down south to study at the Royal Academy of Music."

Frank is making a belated contesting comeback after reliably informing us that the last time he was registered for a contest was with Black Dyke in the early 1950s!Staines Brass

They added: "Jonathan and Ed are both serving in the RAF, whilst Frank is making a belated contesting comeback after reliably informing us that the last time he was registered for a contest was with Black Dyke in the early 1950s!"
