At a recent recording session for a new Christmas CD, Derwent Brass took the opportunity of recording a new march, entitled, ‘M-Lisada’, written by Jim Trott, trustee and founder of Brass for Africa.
Project
Brass for Africa was founded in 2009 with the donation of 30 second-hand brass instruments to an orphanage in Uganda, where a long term music project was initiated.
To date Brass for Africa has placed over 200 instruments into orphanages in Uganda and Liberia and continues to work with local people, teachers and organisations, music programmes and humanitarian projects to offer support to extremely disadvantaged children and their communities.
Delighted
Derwent were delighted to be able help the initiative further by making a donation from the sales of their Christmas CD — something which Jim Trott was delighted by.
He told Derwent Brass: "This is a very enabling donation and I can assure you that the funds will be used to further the charities aims of enabling young people and disadvantaged communities through our music and humanitarian programmes.
Thanks you also for recording the ‘M-Lisada’ march, it sounds great!"
