Reigning London & Southern Counties Area champion Regent Brass has announced that the highly respected Paul Archibald has become their new Musical Director.
Leading professor
The former principal trumpet player at the Royal Opera House and BBC National Orchestra of Wales, amongst others is also a leading professor at conservatories such as the Royal Academy and Royal College of Music.
He will lead the band the defence of their title in Stevenage in March as well as at their debut appearance at the Senior Cup in Blackpool.
Delighted
Paul told 4BR: "I’m delighted to be appointed to one of the most ambitious and dynamic bands in the country.
Regent's astonishing success since its formation is testament to the quality of its performances and I hope to continue the good work that has been done so far."
Community change
Meanwhile, John Holland will take over the conducting role at Regent Community Brass.
The composer, arranger and trombonist has conducted the Lambeth Wind Orchestra since 2008 as well as directing the London Consorts of Winds Clarinet Choir. He will lead the band to the ODBBA contest in February as well as the Area Championship.
