Band spokesperson Gareth Hann told 4BR: "Rhysian has recently been playing principal cornet with Pontarddulais Band as well as being a student at Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama."

He added: "In looking to bolster out our front row, we’re pleased to have a secured such a quality player. With Rhysian’s experience, it’s a great move to provide assistance to me as principal cornet and support the section."

Sop return

The band also welcome back Lee Elliot on soprano cornet.

Gareth added: "With a brief cover on the soprano seat in the Masters in 2011, Lee had been playing solo cornet with us but left in 2012 due to family and work commitments.

It was great when Lee returned in November in time for our anniversary concert, and we’re pleased to have him back on the section."
