The Leyland Band has begun the new calendar year with the appointment of Huw Thomas as their new Musical Director.
Delighted
Following the announcement of his new role Huw told 4BR: "I’m delighted to have been appointed. The band’s professionalism and commitment is second to none and I believe this is the opening of a new chapter in the success story of this world famous band."
The former Fishburn MD will take up the baton with immediate effect, leading the current North West champion on home ground in a concert in Leyland at the end of the month.
Hat trick
He will also work closely with Professional Conductor, Michael Bach as the band look to complete a historic hat- trick of victories at Area Championships in March.
Stand out
Band Chairman Iain McKnight added: "We are very pleased to announce Huw’s appointment.
We saw a number of people in our search for the right person to lead our future musical and Huw was the stand-out candidate, impressing with his amiable but productive approach. We are all looking forward to working with him."
