The identity of a brass band that was featured on a long forgotten 1974 pop song is being sought after it started being played on radio once again.
Glam rock
The track is entitled, ‘Is it Only Love’ by the English rock group The Pretty Things — and was featured on their 1974 album, ‘Silk Torpedo’.
Recorded in London in 1973, it was the band’s seventh album — and is very much of its time — more glam rock (check out the album cover above) than rock and roll to be fair, although they were being recorded on Led Zeppelin’s own label under their manager Peter Grant.
Peak
It eventually peaked at 104 in the US hit parade, whilst the band carried on with other releases and still tours to this day.
However, the identity of the accompanying brass band on the single has remained a mystery, so does anyone know their identity?
