Burry Port set for contest day

The third annual West Wales Solo & Ensemble Day will take place in Burry Port later this month.

Burry Port

2013 Welsh League champion Burry Port Town is gearing up to host their third annual West Wales Solo & Ensemble Day on Saturday 25th January in the Memorial Hall in Burry Port.

The day starts at 10.00am and offers an opportunity for budding brass players of all ages from across South Wales and beyond with the chance to perform.

Across the valleys

Players and ensembles from the South Wales valleys Ceredigion, Carmarthenshire, Pembrokeshire and Swansea will be in attendance with scope for even more competitors to sign up in a variety of classes for solos, duets, trios, small and large ensembles and full Youth bands.

Local talent

Band Chairman Graham Howe told 4BR: "We are excited about the whole event and we have also engaged some talented, local adjudicators.

It is an ideal opportunity for youth bands, players and ensembles the chance to show their talents to a wider audience – and it’s not too late to enter!"

The ethos of the day is to allow budding and developing brass players of all ages the opportunity to demonstrate their talent in front of an appreciative audienceChairman, Graham Howe

Ethos

He added: "The ethos of the day is to allow budding and developing brass players of all ages the opportunity to demonstrate their talent in front of an appreciative audience, so although there are some guidelines, there are no rules or timing of performances.

We're looking to give the young brass players a stage and an appreciative audience to perform to."
