Black Dyke’s annual awards were presented at the band’s final concert of the year at Huddersfield Town Hall, where the trombone duo of Brett Baker and Adrian Hirst claimed the much sought after Queensbury silverware.
Winners
The ‘Bandsman of the Year’ trophy, voted for by the players themselves, went to bass trombonist Adrian Hirst, who has just completed 21 years of service with the English National champion.
Meanwhile, the ‘Pondasher Trophy’ was presented to principal trombonist Brett Baker, who has held the position for 13 years and who is about to add a DMA Doctorate in Music at Salford University to his many achievements.
