2014 marks the bi-centenary of the Kippax Band, with a series of special events and concerts planned throughout the year to celebrate the historic occasion.
200 years
During the Christmas concert season, the band unveiled new stand banners which mark 200 years of banding, together with the first public performances of the Kippax ‘Bicentenary March’, which will be used during celebration concerts in 2014.
The march, originally penned by the late Norman Morley has been arranged by Musical Director David Lancaster.
Sponsorship deal
The band has also announced that they have entered into a 5-year sponsorship association with Kippax Parish Council which commenced in December.
Boost
Band chairman Colin Moss told 4BR: "This is a tremendous boost as we enter our bicentenary year and ensures financial stability for our organisation.
The band has always been an integral part of the local village community and we are delighted to announce this association with Kippax Parish Council."
