Welsh League First Section champion Llwydcoed has announced that former Cory assistant principal cornet player Chris Turner (centre) has taken over the Musical Director role with the band.
Musical direction
The League victory means that the band will perform in the top flight of the three legged Championship Section series in 2014, with Chris taking over the main musical direction with Nigel Seaman becoming Associate Conductor as he continues his role with current champion, Burry Port.
Moved forward
Chairman Kevin Johnson told 4BR: "The band wishes to thank Nigel for the way in which he has motivated and moved us forward during his tenure at the helm. We have yet again enjoyed an immensely successful year due to his direction."
He added: "Our thanks go to Nigel and we look forward to working with him in a new capacity from next year. We are also very excited at the prospect of working with Chris Turner and look forward to a very bright future."
Plaudits
As well as gaining a renowned reputation as one of the banding world’s finest ‘bumper-ups’, Chris Turner has also gained plaudits for his teaching and tutoring, as well as his emerging conducting career, which will also see him lead the Greater Gwent Youth Band in their annual course and concert in Newport in the next few weeks.
