City of Bradford Band has announced that Robert Westacott is to become their new principal cornet player with immediate effect.

Top men

One of the most experienced ‘top men’ in the business, Robert has spent time in the principal cornet seat of many of the UK’s premiere bands, including Grimethorpe, Brighouse & Rastrick, Tredegar and Hepworth.

Huge boost

Understandably, MD Lee Skipsey is delighted with the latest player to join the ranks of the ambitious Yorkshire First Section outfit.

"This is a huge boost, and gives us a solo cornet line up that will be the envy of just about any band in the country.

It also enables Tim Poole to move to bumper-up, which he is very happy to do due to work commitments, so that he can carry on with the fantastic playing he has produced for the band over the years."

More success

With a busy year ahead, Lee is also targeting yet more success for his band.

"The commitment and dedication of the players here is second to none.

Rob has shown that by becoming Associate Conductor in addition to the role he continues to play in leading a rejuvenated Slaithwaite Band, so the year has ended brilliantly for us at City of Bradford. 2014 can’t come soon enough."
