The Yorkshire village of Sutton in Craven is hoping to gain a People's Millions Lottery Fund award to help start a new brass band.
Heartland
Local Head Teacher Fiona Beetles told 4BR: "The history of the village is well documented and we believe there was once a village band as we are situated in the heartland of brass bands in Yorkshire.
A faded photograph hidden deep in the village website seems to support this rumour. Sadly the brass playing heritage of the village is hidden too, so our project is to reinstate a community brass band."
Membership
It is hoped that the membership will be made up of children from the local school who are new to playing, existing players, parents, teachers, grandparents, extended families and other members of the community.
The People Millions vote day is on 25th November and the village will be featured on ITV Calendar news with a telephone number for supporters to vote for the project.
