North West champion Leyland has announced that they will once again be conducted by the ‘King of Entertainment’ himself, Richard Evans, at the Brass in Concert Championship at The Sage in Gateshead on the weekend.
10th time
Tricky Dicky will be looking to claim a tenth personal title this year, having incredibly won the event with bands over four decades — his first back with Leyland in 1989.
Mutual history
And as a Leyland’s Chairman Iain McKnight told 4BR, the band is determined to ensure he is crowned ‘King Richard X’ this year
"It is always a pleasure to team up with Mr Evans," he said. "There is no one better for this event, which has been the scene of many fine moments in both of our mutual histories."
He added: "We’re looking forward to a day of fantastic music making and hopefully being able to make it ten wins for Richard and six for us."

Helping hands
Leyland will be aided by the assistance of Black Dyke’s trombone star, Brett Baker, and former long standing Fairey and Dyke player, Trevor McCormick, who will play first horn.
"We are delighted that Brett will be lending his assistance in Gateshead. We felt that playing four trombones would give us greater flexibility in our music and also supports Ross, our newly appointed principal trombonist on his contesting debut.
It is also fantastic to have such an experienced player as Trevor with us for this contest."
