The Lofthouse 2000 Band will be playing an important part in the Rugby League World Cup tonight as they take part in a music and dance extravaganza.
Watersplash Final
In conjunction with Leeds College of Music they will be part of a new composition by Jesse Bannister, remembering the 1968 Rugby League Cup Final — the so called ‘Watersplash Final’ — between Wakefield Trinity and Leeds.
That final is remembered not just for the atrocious weather, but also for the missed conversion attempt in the final minutes in front of the posts by the late Don Fox, a Wakefield Trinity legend.
Man of the Match
Fox had already been named as man of the match and winner of the prestigious Lance Todd Trophy when he had the chance to win the match for Trinity.
However, despite being in front of the posts he skewed his attempt wide – allowing Leeds to win by a single point.
