As reported on 4BR the Reg Vardy Band has officially announced the appointment of John Roberts as its new Resident Musical Director.
Right candidate
The announcement comes soon after he found out that he had lost his position as MD at Skelmanthorpe, and coincides with the London finalist’s long term search for the right candidate to work alongside Musical Director Russell Gray.
The appointment marks a return to the band for John, who initially conducted the then Ever Ready Band, in the late 1990’s.
Long respected
Band Manager Graeme Tindall told 4BR: "John has been a long respected friend of the band and this latest partnership heralds a period of stability and building in the Reg Vardy bandroom."
He added: "Everyone at Reg Vardy is pleased to conclude our search with John’s appointment. We knew it would take time to find the right person and John was always right at the very top of the list, although until now his association with Skelmanthorpe prevented this.
John is a highly respected conductor and brings with him a wealth of experience and musicianship that can only benefit the band, so we are very pleased to have him on board."
