Marsden in celebration mood

The Marsden Band has announced ambitious plans to celebrate its 125th anniversary in 2014.

Special events

Under the direction of Musical Director Glyn Williams, who will also celebrate a decade in charge of the Yorkshire band, plans are in place for a number of special events and concerts.

The celebrations will kick off with a Gala Dinner & Dance on 8th February, where the band are keen to involve both current and past members in what will also be the official launch of their anniversary CD and Patrons Association.

Book

A 125th anniversary book has also been put together by Band Club President Brian Boothroyd and local brass band historian Ron Massey, which will also be launched at the event.

Main concert

The main concert of the year will be held in June in the beautiful St Bartholomew's Church in the centre of Marsden village, which will also feature the organisation’s Junior Band, Concert Band and a special Reunion Band.

Marsden Band's association with Glyn Williams Music Ltd will also result in concerts further afield too, with appearances in Glyn's home town of Tywyn in North Wales and a trip to Armagh in Northern Ireland.

Fund raising begins as soon as September 28th with a concert sponsored by Glyn Williams Music Ltd at Colne Valley High School, where we will be performing a family night of entertainment entitled, ‘A Night at the Movies’."
