Following the ground breaking news that the Corps of Army Music is to set up three brand new professional brass bands within its ranks in the near future, there will be strong representation of current personnel on parade at the British Open on Saturday.
Musicians and composer
Several Army musicians will be performing with the likes of Desford and Beaumaris amongst others, whilst Stephen Roberts, the composer of the test piece, ‘Arabian Nights’ is a visiting professor of composition at Kneller Hall.
First professional band
4BR has also been informed that competition for places in the newly formed The Kings Band (Weeton) based in the North West of England is hotting up, with the new professional brass band up and running by April 2014.

Launch
A spokesperson told 4BR: "A launch concert is planned for May 2014 and possible other events at Butlins, Spring Festival, Northern Festival of Brass, RNCM Festival of Brass are already being discussed with sponsors.
The new band also plans to take part in the Whit Friday marches 2014."
