The Marsden Band is to say a fond farewell to Band Manager and former cornet player Phil Lamb and his euphonium/baritone playing wife Luci, who are to relocate to Scotland in September with work.

Integral part

The couple have been associated with Marsden for many years, and have been an integral part of the band's many recent successes, with Luci also taking on the extra responsibility of being an inspirational conductor of the Marsden Junior Band for the last two years.

Hard work and asset

Musical Director Glyn Williams told 4BR: "Phil's hard work and dedication as Band Manager has helped greatly to make my job easier. He was the key in securing the high profile partnership with Yorkshire Tea last year and will be sorely missed by everyone."

He added: "Luci has been a great asset to the whole Marsden organisation, spending many years on euphonium and the last few months on baritone, with a great attitude — always happy to move seats to accommodate new players."

Marsden Band wishes Phil and Luci all the best in their new life North of the Border and look forward to welcoming them both back to the bandroom whenever they visit YorkshireMD, Glyn Williams

125th anniversary celebrations

Glyn also revealed that with Phil's help Marsden has set up an operational committee headed by Carwyn Waters to plan numerous special events to mark the band’s 125th anniversary in 2014.

Glyn added: "Marsden Band wishes Phil and Luci all the best in their new life North of the Border and look forward to welcoming them both back to the bandroom whenever they visit Yorkshire."
