4BR has been informed of the death of Mike Richardson, a highly respected and popular patron of both Derwent Brass and Black Dyke, who passed away on August 8th. He was 68.
Well known
Well known in East Midland’s brass banding circles, he had various connections with local groups and became a good friend of Derwent Brass in recent years.
He organised annual spring concerts in the Derby Assembly Rooms featuring Black Dyke as well as concerts featuring the massed bands of Derwent Brass and Derby Central SA.
Support
A Derwent spokesperson told 4BR: "Although a long-term patron of Black Dyke, it was only in April when Mike became formally recognised as a Patron of Derwent Brass and we were delighted that he accepted the title.
From his support we hope to fulfil many of his plans for these events in the future including a special Christmas concert."
