Lanner's star cornet player joins Cornish cream

10 year old Siana Rouse has successfully auditioned to join the cream of Cornish brass band talent.

Siana Rouse

Lanner Brass Academy's star principal cornet player has successfully passed her audition to join the Cornwall Youth Brass Band — just a few weeks after her 10th birthday.

Proud

Siana Rouse was helped in her audition preparation by MD, Stuart Chappell, who told 4BR: "We are very proud of what we are achieving at our Academy, developing several very promising players such as Siana. Her achievement brings great kudos to it."

Youngest ever?

He added: "Siana may in fact be the youngest ever player to have ever passed an audition for the band. Our Academy has only just celebrated its third anniversary and has already achieved great success – and this fine achievement adds to that."

I was really excited at the audition and was even more excited when I was told I had passed! I can't wait to start playing with themSiana Rouse

Excited

Siana added: "I was really excited at the audition and was even more excited when I was told I had passed! I can't wait to start playing with them."

The 80 strong Cornwall Youth Brass Band starts their new season on Sunday 8th September and this year welcomes at least 15 new members to the band.
