Yorkshire sound in Land of the Rising Sun

Morgan Griffiths has been exporting the classic Yorkshire brass band sound to Japan.

Hammonds Saltaire MD Morgan Griffiths has just returned to the UK after leading over 70 participants in a brass band camp in Japan.

Morgan led the players at the 4th Brass Band Camp in Hamamatsu, organised by Atsuhiko Okamoto and Toshiaki Kameyama.

Yorkshire sound

Over 70 participants from a wide variety of bands throughout Japan enjoyed intensive rehearsals and master classes given by euphonium star and conductor, with many immediately vowing to try and copy what Morgan referred to as the classic ‘Yorkshire Sound’!

Morgan told 4BR: "Both my wife Hannah and I were humbled by the warm welcome we received whilst staying in Hamamatsu."
