The Foden’s Band is to undertake an extensive update of their proud 113 year history.
Archive Project
Led by Stewart Green, the ‘Foden’s Band Archive Project’ hopes to add to the outstanding 100th anniversary history, written and published in the year 2000 by former Band Manager Allan Littlemore.
Current Band Manager Mark Wilkinson told 4BR: "Stewart will be looking at collating as much additional information as possible. With 113 years of history, there must be a huge collection of memorabilia that could be added."
Comprehensive
Stewart added: "I decided to re-do the information in Allan Littlemore’s excellent book as well as re-compile all the information from the various books about the band, a list of all the tracks on recordings and add as much information that exists, including an audio archive of band members.
Having had access to the old band diary from 1909 and my own histories of the Lyceum Crewe, Sandbach Town Hall and theatres in Hanley, I’ve compiled probably the most comprehensive list of engagements of any brass band."

Former members
Stewart is keen to get in contact with as many former Foden’s members as possible. "If anyone has any stories, I would like to record them in written or oral format so in the future they can be accessed to find out about the band."
Already Stewart has uncovered some demo 78’s and rare pictures, but is extremely interested in additional memorabilia – from old uniforms and recordings to prizes and trophies.
