Grand Shield winners Milnrow have announced the appointment of Joanne Johnson as their new principal cornet.

Tenure

Jo joins the band following her highly successful 16 year tenure as principal cornet of Pemberton Old Wigan (DW) Band.

Band spokesperson Jonny Shaw told 4BR: "We are all excited about the prospect of working with Jo. She is a player of great style and experience who will complement the existing band line up."

He added: "Milnrow is breaking new ground in 2013 after gaining qualification to both the British Open and National Finals as well as receiving invitations to ever more prestigious concerts, festivals and contests.

To have a player of Jo’s calibre to lead the band is a great asset."
