After six wonderful years under the direction of John Dickinson, Sale Brass has announced that their popular MD will be retiring from the position at the end of August.
Huge debt
General Secretary Soo Rose Cook told 4BR: "The band owe a huge debt of gratitude for all John has done to progress and develop the band."
The former Principal Trumpet at the Halle Orchestra is very well known from his many years tutoring at Chethams School of Music and the RNCM, and has also inspired many of the world's professional musicians.
Contesting success
Under his direction, Sale achieved many fine contesting results, most recently a first and two second places in their section on the Whit Friday circuit.
Soo added: "The band now plan to build on the work done by John as they move forward into a new era and we send John our heartfelt thanks and very best wishes for a long and happy retirement."
