The National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain is to hold a special ‘Open Day’ event at Giggleswick School near Settle next month.

Free day

Talented brass and percussion players aged 8 to 18 are invited to join the band for the free day on Tuesday 6th August, which will feature a masterclass, solo competition, a question and answer session with conductor Bramwll Tovey and a chance to hear the band in action.

The young musicians will also have the opportunity to audition for either the NYBBGB or the National Children’s Brass Band of Great Britain (NCBBGB).

Tutors for the day will include Phillip McCann, Mark Wilkinson, Alan Wycherley, Glyn Williams, Phil Goodwin and Simone Rebello.

Come along

Open Day Co-ordinator, Martin Armstrong told 4BR: "We would encourage any young and talented brass or percussion player to come along.

The day will see youngsters being coached by some of the UK’s finest brass and percussion players, and it will inspire. Dozens of previous attendees at Open Days have gone on to join the band."
