One of the most important concerts in the recent history of Regent Brass will take place tonight at the Brent Civic Centre in Wembley at 7.00pm.
Diversity
The current London & Southern Counties Area champion will join forces with Regent Community Brass and other local organisations in a concert celebrating the diversity of their local area in London.
The musical centrepiece of the evening will be the world premiere of a work inspired by 17th century Chinese calligraphy, written by acclaimed composer Raymond Yiu, but featuring musical elements that can be found within the local community the band is based.
Looking forward
The Regent players are certainly looking forward to the occasion as cornet player Olof Jonsdottir told 4BR: "It will be a wonderful evening of celebration and great music making.
The celebration comes in recognizing the first anniversary of Regent Community Brass, and the great music making comes with the world premiere of ‘Ink Garden’ by Raymond Yiu.
Everyone associated with the band has been excited about this project, especially as it strengthens our links within the local community."
It is a very inclusive means of engaging in the local community and so we hope this concert will create further opportunities for those who wish to join usOlof Jonsdottir
Central
Olof added: "Regent Community Brass is central to this, and will also be featured on the night, as they welcome players young and old, those starting to learn or those wishing to return to play in a brass band.
It is a very inclusive means of engaging in the local community and so we hope this concert will create further opportunities for those who wish to join us."
