The Reg Vardy Band will be opening its doors to welcome listeners to hear their final preparations ahead of the English National Championships in Birmingham on the weekend.

Diversions

Under the direction of Russell Gray, the band will showcase the set work, George Lloyd’s ‘Diversions on a Bass Theme’, as well as their own-choice selection.

Band Manager Graeme Tindall told 4BR: "There’s a great buzz in our Stanley bandroom at present and we are relishing working on both test pieces under the inspiring direction of Russell Gray."

Dutch help

Graeme revealed that the North East challengers will also be welcoming principal cornet player Dennis Vork and solo trombone Wolter Lommerde from Brass Band Schoonhoven, who will be playing with them on the weekend.

Open rehearsal

The open rehearsal starts at 7.00pm on Thursday 27th June, at the old Salvation Army Hall, View Lane, Stanley, Co Durham DH9 0DX.
