New Poynton arrivals

There are a duo of new arrivals at the VBS Poytoin Band.

There are some new arrivals at the VBS Poynton Band.

Duo

Gareth Steele, joins on BBb tuba after spells with BT, Glossop Old and Marple Bands. He replaces long serving player Garry Bestwick.

Meanwhile, Lauren Lilley joins on flugel horn. Lauren replaces Beth Haworth and joins after enjoying her banding with Rainford, Leyland and more recently Drighlington.

Calibre

MD Neil Samuel told 4BR: "I feel very lucky to be able to welcome two players of this calibre to the band. I’m confident that they will assist us in our bid for promotion back to the Championship Section."

Tribute

Paying tribute to outgoing players, Band Chairman Pete Cookson told 4BR:

"Garry and Beth have been an absolute pleasure to have in the bandroom, and more importantly two people whose commitment has never faltered. On behalf of the band I would like to wish them all the best for the future."

November 1 • Croy Silver Band currently has contest vacancies on Cornet and Percussion, but is always happy to accommodate enthusiastic new players in any section of the band.

November 1 • We have a solo horn vacancy to join our friendly 3rd section band. We have a sensible calendar of contests and concerts. Situated with close links to the M11/M25 and Central line tube station, with our own band room. Rehearsals Monday night 8-10pm

November 1 • NW Championship Section Rainford Band are inviting applications for a 2nd Euphonium player. We are a forward thinking and hard working band, with excellent links to M6 and M62. . We rehearse on Mon and Thurs 19.45 - 21.45 in Rainford
