The Charlie Mortimer Fund, set up to help children with a rare metabolic disorder is to be boosted with it’s fund raising by a generous auction donation by Geneva Instruments.
Raise funds
Neil Beecham’s young nephew Charlie passed away in August 2009, and ever since Neil has been helping to raise funds in his name to support metabolic disorder research, bereaved families and support the Leeds General Infirmary paediatric intensive care unit as well as a number of other beneficiaries.
The first auction he ran in 2010 was a huge success — topping over £10,000, so Neil hopes that with Geneva’s generosity, which has seen them donate a top of the range Symphony cornet, another huge amount of much needed cash can be raised.
Links
Neil’s family links to Tim Oldroyd of Geneva Instruments has led to the company’s generous donation.
"My dad (Charlie's Grandfather) is the man responsible for teaching Tim to play as a child, and our family have kept close links with Tim and Craig Buchan from Geneva over many years.
This has led to their wonderful donation of a brand new Geneva Symphony cornet worth well over £2,000, to the auction."
Star attraction
He added: "This will be just one of hundreds of lots ranging from meal vouchers and flying lessons to signed sports memorabilia and foreign holidays, but for bandsmen like us, the cornet is the star attraction – and we hope it can help raise a massive amount for the charity."
Everyone at Geneva hopes that the auction raises as much money as possible and that a very lucky player will get to enjoy playing a superb Symphony cornet in the knowledge that they have helped such a worthwhile charity tooTim Oldroyd
Delighted
Geneva’s Tim Oldroyd is delighted that the company can help.
"The connection between me and the family goes back such a long way, and so to be able to help such a wonderful cause is something we are privileged as a company to do.
Everyone at Geneva hopes that the auction raises as much money as possible and that a very lucky player will get to enjoy playing a superb Symphony cornet in the knowledge that they have helped such a worthwhile charity too."
