The death has been announced of Kenny Ralfe of the Carlton Main Frickley Colliery Band.

Kenny passed away suddenly at home on Sunday 2nd June. He was 78.

Kenny Ralfe was regarded as an inspiration for many of the current Carlton Main players. He played with great distinction for Brodsworth as principal cornet, Markham Main, Hatfield, Thoresby and finally, Carlton Main.

Knock

When Carlton Main fell on hard times in the mid 1990’s, Kenny was one of the first to knock on the door to offer his services and remained ever since, the last 10 years as a wonderfully helpful and informative librarian.

Dedicated

A spokesperson told 4BR: "Kenny was a dedicated bandsman, loved and respected by both young and old. He will be remembered mostly for being just Kenny — a real character and a true bandsman."

His wife Brenda would like to thank everyone for their condolences and kind words and Kenny’s wishes were for no flowers, but for any donations to go to his beloved Carlton Main Frickley Colliery Band.
