4BR has been informed that the organisers of the popular Pershore Midsummer Brass on Saturday 6th July are hoping for an even more spectacular event this year.
Great line up
Once again there is a great line up of bands, led by a trio of newly crowned Area champions.
Jaguar Land Rover, Tongwynlais Temperance and Flowers will be on hand to showcase their prize winning talents, with a host of other Cheltenham bound National Finalists also making a welcome appearance.
These include Staffordshire, Bilton Silver and Shipston Town, while newcomers Enderby Band (and their Junior Band) will be enjoying their first taste of the Pershore experience.
Returns and newcomers
It will also be great to see the return of the Audley Band, who had to withdraw after a difficult spell last year, whilst the undoubted highlight of the day will be the inception of a dedicated Youth Festival intended to celebrate and inspire young brass players.
Youth Festival feature
The day will begin with a massed junior band playing in Chapman Court from 9.30am, with several junior bands then going on to play at various venues. The No.8 Theatre on Pershore’s High Street has been generously offered to the Festival to showcase the achievements of the younger players from 10.00am onwards.
These include the brilliant youngsters of Tewkesbury Youth Band, and the highly entertaining Lydney Training Band, who proved extremely popular last year.
Local youngsters from West Mercia Youth and the Worcester Youth, under the direction of Nicky Daw are joined by bands from two local schools.

Ahhhhh factor
The first of these — Hallow CE Primary School Band is likely to field the youngest players of the day, so they are sure to get the ‘Ahhh’ factor, whilst the secondary sector is represented by a band from the Evesham based Prince Henry’s School.
A spokesperson told 4BR: "Although the timetable is yet to be finalised, the day is shaping up well. At £12 for an all-day/all venue ticket access to fabulous music is a given. And, in order to encourage our youngsters, entrance to the No.8 Theatre is free.
Get to Pershore early and make the most of your ticket!!"
