Elland Silver Band has announced of Daniel Brooks as their new Musical Director.

Fantastic job

Elland’s Sam Harrison told 4BR: "Following the retirement of Jim Shepherd, the band has been conducted by David Essex until a permanent replacement could be found.

David has done a fantastic job over the past six months and was instrumental in helping the band qualify for the National Finals in September. David will take the band at Whit Friday and then hand the reigns over to Daniel."

Success

Since 2011, Daniel has been the MD of the Eccleston Band in Lancashire, where he has enjoyed a great deal of success at local contests as well as playing a central role in developing their Training Band.

Band Secretary Kathleen Harrison added: "We are all excited about working with Danny. He is really enthusiastic and eager to take the band forward."

Looking forward

Daniel himself added: "Working with Elland is a challenge I’m looking forward to. Following in the footsteps of some great musicians is an honour and a privilege.

I will strive to continue the traditions of the band whilst looking to take them into the future with hard work, passion and hopefully success as a reward for our joint efforts."
